　　We tend to think that friends and family members are our biggestsource of connection, laughter and warmth. While that may well betrue, researchers have also recently found that interacting withstrangers actually brings a boost in mood and feelings of belonging that we didn't expect.

　　In one series of studies, researchers instructed Chicago-areacommuters using public transportation to strike up a conversationwith someone near them. On average, participants who followed thisinstruction felt better than those who had been told to stand or sit insilence. The researchers also argued that when we shy away fromcasual interactions with strangers, it is often due to a misplacedanxiety that they might not want to talk to us. Much of the timehowever, this belief is false. As it turns out, many people are actually perfectly willing to talk and may even be flattered to receive your attention.

　　短文比较贴近生活，一共7句话。从语法角度来说，通篇主要考查到了介词短语的用法，比较简单的从句(判断和翻译几乎没什么难度)，还有每年必考到的and并列结构。

　　第一句：tend to倾向于，易于，这里翻译成“通常”即可。that后面是think的宾语从句，好判断，翻译顺译。of后面是A,B and C三者的并列，做“来源”的定语。

　　第二句：while既可以引导时间状从，也可以引导让步状从，根据前后意思判断，应该是后者。that may well be true句中，that只是指示代词，指代前一句中的想法。found that…that引导的是宾语从句。mood and feelings of belonging出现并列结构，后面有定语从句修饰。didn't expect “没有想到的”，就是“意料之外”。

　　第三句：commuters using public transportation 现在分词短语做定语，乘坐公共交通工具的通勤者们。instruct sb. to do sth.指示/命令某人做某事

　　第四句：on average如果涉及数字，会翻译成“平均”的含义，这里，可以理解成“通常情况下”“一般来说”即可。participants who…/ those who…两类人的比较，出现了两处who引导的定语从句，句意也比较好理解。

　　第五句：argued that…that引导的宾语从句里，嵌套着when…引导的时间状语从句，主句是强调状语的强调句。misplacedanxiety 可以猜出来含义：错位的焦虑

　　第六句：however的翻译可以前置，Much of the time 很多时候，主干是主系表结构

　　第七句：As it turns out 事实证明，结果是。主干是并列结构：人们愿意干某事和人们感到荣幸。
